The origins of Reiki
The system of Reiki is said to have been developed by Mikao Usui in 1922 while undergoing a 21-day Buddhist training course on Mount Kurama. The specifics of the training remain uncertain, but it is believed to have included practices like meditation, fasting, chanting, and prayer.
According to the story, Usui had a mystical revelation during this period, gaining knowledge and spiritual power, which he named Reiki. It's often mentioned that this spiritual energy entered Usui's body through his crown chakra.
Following his experience on Mount Kurama, Mikao Usui relocated to Tokyo and established the "Usui Reiki Ryōhō Gakkai" or "Usui's Spiritual Energy Therapy Method Society." This organisation was created to share and teach the practice of Reiki, allowing Usui to provide treatment to a larger audience and pass on the methods to others.
While the historical accuracy of certain details is debated, this narrative forms the basis of the widely accepted history of the Reiki system as taught by Mikao Usui.
